Viking Village Youth Camp

Viking Village Group photo 20062006 - The week of July30 started with a mixture of excitement and apprehension as twenty children of Scandinavian decent converged on VASA Park in Agoura Hills, California. Under the direction of Ann Heinstedt and with the assistance of Kristin Spaberg and Bobbi Howard, the VASA Park Association Viking Village was successfully underway. During the week long camp, VASA children were given the opportunity to learn about their Scandinavian heritage. A family potluck dinner on Sunday evening kicked off the week. Read more.....

Viking Village - Group 20072007 - On Sunday June 24, 2007, during the Midsummer celebration at Vasa Park in Agoura Canyon, California, with a mixture of excitement and anxiety, twenty six children of Scandinavian heritage converged to attend the week long 2007 VIKING VILLAGE YOUTH CAMP. Children from Southern California, Utah and Nebraska were in attendance under the direction of Ann Heinstedt, with the assistance of Gary, Gunlog and Bjorn Spaberg, Rolf and Thomas Jahn, Sheryl Pages, Lori and JJ Schetter. Viking Village Camp2008 - On Sunday, June 22, 2008, Midsummer was celebrated at Vasa Park, located in the beautiful hills above Agoura Canyon, California. Music, dancing, singing, good food, swimming, and the raising of the Maypole, the presentation of the Midsummer Court and dancers was enjoyed by all. This was also the gathering day for the youngster from District Lodge Pacific Southwest No. 15 for the much awaited beginning of the week long “Viking Village Camp”. Read more.....

Viking Village - Group 20102010 - This year, Viking Village children had the opportunity of a Swedish camp leader who specifically came to America to participate in Viking Village. Here is an excerpt from her introduction letter. She is the daughter of Jeanette Engstrom’s friend who was attending the 2010 District convention. Jennifer added an entire Swedish experience for the children.

Viking Village - Group 20112011 - Time to get up and go! We change our clothes, brush our teeth, put on some sunscreen and then head down to breakfast where we learn some Swedish, say a prayer and eat a wonderful meal of pancakes and bacon or French toast and sausage. When everyone is finished eating, we begin to head off to Keystone. Keystone is where we do the bulk of our activities. Horseback riding, swimming, zip-lining, arcade gaming, go-carting, and making crafts are among the fun things we do. Read more.....
